What Should You be Driving Your Monitor With?

The Video Cards that's inside the Today's average Gaming Computer SMOKES the $1000+ Video Cards that you would find in last years High-End CAD or 3D animation Workstations.

Isn't Progress wonderful?

There are really only 3 manufacturers in today's Video Card Market that are worth considering if you want the ultimate in inexpensive NLE performance.  NVIDIA, ATI and some may still say Matrox.

So, what should you choose?  Well, if your editing with Avid Xpress Pro and you want to accelerate your 3D effects to Real-Time, you've really only got one choice, Nvidia.  The FX 5000 series cards have plenty of 3D acceleration horsepower, 2 monitor outputs (Depending on the model) and some even have a TV output.  While this TV output is not derived from the Video Overlay (a la Matrox Parhelia), it's still useful if you want a client preview monitor.  Just make sure the client knows what their looking at...

Adobe Premier Pro, Pinnacle Edition and Vegas users are not locked into any one particular brand.  Just do a little research and find out what cards the manufacturer is recommending and stick with them.  Frankly, unless your a hardcore gamer, you probably wont be able to tell the difference in performance between the High End ATI and NVIDIA
